Le Mans 2010

I havn't seen a thread on it yet. I was running like crazy all day getting a graduation party together and didn't remember what day it was until a few hours ago, Ive missed a good portion of it. The repair of the #64 Vette was absolutely astonishing. Bummer that both the E92s have had rear suspension issues, I wanted to see the Art Car in motion.

Yeah i was also amazed by the repair of that vette. Luckily i erased most of the dvr so i still have 6+ hours left to watch thanks to the speed channel.

BMW's involvement in 24h Le Mans is somewhat disheartening. If you look at the history, they are better off with 24hr Nürburgring and Spa Fran.

The one great success at Le Mans was the V12 LMR in 1999 driven to a win by Winkelhock, Martini, and Dalmas. That car had a considerable amount of success for the ALMS that year too in Sebring and Vegas.

What I regard as a somewhat disappointment is the McLaren F1 GTR that raced with Le Mans in 96 and 97. They had the short tail, then the long tail version which I absolutely adore. There were a couple from the works team and a few independent teams. But none really made it to the first place IIRC.

BMW has seen better days in racing. Hopefully they will shine in DTM.

The BMW M3's were being outpaced by the Corvettes by 5 seconds a lap which was embarrassing.

The Art car couldn't stop blowing tyres and unfortunately ran prototype off the track

Well the Vettes have had considerable experience with road racing and the E92 chassis has had very little experience on the track comparatively. I hope BMW will continue its efforts and not give up on the first run at it. I have few doubts that BMW can be very competitive with that car, look at its successes in other races and series. It set a class record at Road America last year during the cars first ALMS outing there.
