Noise and Lurching When Stopping
Hey everyone,
I recently changed the front brakes (pads and rotors) on my 323i. Everything works great. I used brake silencer on the back of the pads so that they wouldn't squeal, and they don't. BUT when I'm slowing down, right before my car completely stops (getting that last little bit of momentum stopped), the brakes have a "lurching" type feeling. They make a noise that's not a squeal but it's like they're biting into the rotor. The sound lasts 1/4 of a second. I can take a video of it later if everyone is stumped but I'm hoping you'll all have some ideas. Thanks in advance!

Did you use a wire brush on the hub before you put the new rotors on? If they're not sitting perfectly flat on the hub, you could get this. Also, if you didn't properly bed your brakes you could have uneven deposits causing this, but in that case you'd probably notice some brake judder at higher speeds as well, unless the deposits are just starting to form.

Thanks for your help snortdavis, I did use a wirebrush when I put the brakes on originally but recently I took the rotors off again and spent about 20 minutes cleaning the hubs, no luck. The problem is still there and I'm wondering if I should be concerned.
It basically is like a grinding for the last few feet of braking. I either have to slam on the brakes at the end or let it judder. Any ideas? I did bed the pads.
