HVA replacement, DIY job?

Ive got a rattle on start up only when cold, left over night etc......

From what can gather its the HVA's that need replacing.

The question is, is it a DIY job? and has anyone done them?

Im not to bad with the spanners, did the VANOS seals no probs.

Cheers

Side question; Vanos Seals. Did you notice a difference? I've got 225,000km on mine, the car seems to run fine. Slight rough idle @ cold start, but other than that, seems to be ok. What prompted the Vanos fix? Did you use the Beisan kit?

Not sure of your acronum; HVA? WHat is HVA.....

HVA = Hydraluic Valve Actuator.......

AKA Hydraulic Tappet, Cam Followers.........

Yes I used the Beisan kit, and I did notice a differance.

I had a rough idle, poor power and delivery.........

Now Ive just got a noise on start up, for 5-10 sec, whilst the HVA's get up to pressure......... I hope/think

Question

Did you end up finding the solution to your noisy cold start? I've got the same problem and I'm trying to find out what it could be...
