hpf stage 4 or s/c e9x

A couple of answers here the fastest 60-130 time for an n54 is 6.95 sec and that was done by hotrod. In reality I would just keep your car and throw a tune, dps, intercooler, and methonal on it. That is way more then enough power for the street and though it is not as fast as a stage 2.5 hpf car it is also over 20k cheaper then it. If you are building a car for straight up raw power then you are looking at the wrong cars. Just buy a used viper or zo6 they can easily get you into the low 10's na or fi and for a fraction of the cost of a hpf kit. Also just to state my opinion from someone that owns an n54 I do think the s54 is a stronger motor and I am actually worried about my head lifting once I put on upgraded turbos and nitrous (once propoer fueling comes available).

you may want to consider buying a e46 m3 that's build already like someone selling a m3 with a HPF set up or you can buy this guys car TaZaM3 www.tazam3forsale.com

I am not looking to build a car for drop dead power. If I could have the luxury of the new e9x and the more recent looks coupled with the power of a pure drag car and the still retain the handling of a stock m3, I would do it in a heart beat. As for now, it seems the best compromise is in a stage 3 e46. Drop dead power with real life performance, fairly decent luxury, and its still a BMW.

If is power and luxury your seeking why not get the a M6? It comes with a lot of Power and nicely equip and its within your budget. This is a car you don't have to do much too.

Thanks for clearing that up,i tried to find the recent run but it wasnt on the 'official' list and only one i found was 10sec which i was surprised by

In my personal opinion I think the M6 is grotesque. And I believe an HPF e46 would still accelerate faster

This is true but performance carries more weight than both still for me.

Fred, I you won't be disappointed! 800+rwhp, great looks, decent luxury, great handleing, and great reliability, especially considering what the car really is.

Intesting. Chris and I having dinner and talking about this thread and he knows nothing about the 335 single turbo upgrade or any horsepower projected numbers. There are talks of it but that's as far as it's gone. Just do a stage 2 on an e46 m3 and be happy

That's what i'm leaning towards, although it'd be stage 3 or I'd wait for the stage 4 to go back on production. Thanks!

From what i've heard, stage 4 has a decent amount of lag. I would personally go stage 3

I appreciate all the enthusiasm. I understand what howie is saying with regards to custom upgrading a 335i as opposed to existing upgrades on the market. In all honesty, if I could see a car that had been custom upgraded and tuned with numbers close to an hpf I would definitely look in to it, but HPF is well known and very established, which gives it the benefit. Their kits have been proven not only in performance but in reliability from what I've seen so far. I will definitely keep researching alternative routes.

my point exactly...when sh!t starts coming out for these cars it's gonna be all she wrote. It's still too new and uncharted territory right now, but if op has the funds he could build a monster.

She replied "I can't see it... the 3-series is in the way, god that thing is ugly"

Needless to say I lost my deposit and supercharged my E46

Excatly and the regular e9X 3 series is even worse. Who cares IF the 335 becomes a monster it isn't sexy like the E46 M3.

bmw did the change for everyone with the new n55 motor, and this motor is in everything. the 5 series, x3, x5, z4, 135, 335. Could be a good market for the guys over at hpf since no one has really started working on this motor yet...

I didn't say it was completed yet but it is in the plan, why am I "these" people, just cause you don't know me, lol.. confirmed by Chris that the 335/135 will be developed in 3 Stages; Stage 1 is all bolt ons (exhaust, intercooler, dp's, bov, etc.) and piggyback software, Stage 2 will be a single turbo + manifold upgrade, and Stage 3 will be a fully built motor with single turbo.. but I'm fully aware that it'll take some time to develop.. Chris told me in person at Bimmerfest that he believes they will succeed..
