How to tell if your car has been chipped?

I own a 2004 bmw 325 and bought it used. I thought it would be limited to 128 because it doesn't seem to have the sport package, but I took it out (not on public roads of course ) and it seemed to go all the way to 134 and I felt the engine power cut, but I believe it was because I was at 6500 rpms in 5th gear. I was wondering what the easiest way to determine if your car is chipped or not.

Bring it to the dealership and have it hooked up to their computer
