Testing OEM stuff, especially old examples, is tricky. Its difficult to find old shocks with very few miles on them, so we do the best we can and take into consideration that the numbers probably reflect some wear and tear.

I will take a look at those numbers you have gathered and see if they correlate to anything we've found on the dyno, but off hand I don't see any rhyme or reason there. Some of the companies use truly bizarre formulas for those types of things. You could look at the numbers for days and not figure out what they mean without seeing the formula, and even then, they often base it on irrelevant figures.

Actually, I think Brady was parting out his BMW mid-2008 to get into a different car. Too bad I didn't pick up his AST's!

I will be stopping by for some RTAB limiters, though. I'm about sick of my urethane bushings. Is it worth using M3 bushings back there?

Yeah, good point. We've had no updates to the original subject matter.

IMHO, the AST 4100 is already the perfect street/track setup and has been available for quite some time now. I've been running mine quite happily since last August. Would still be interesting to hear what RRT finds to be the "best" in terms of fine tuning the 4100 though.

im in but, there is no such thing as a street and GOOD track suspension, it has to be either, i mean you can get both but it wont be the best, For example my KW V2's i think its perfect, but is it the best for track??, No.

Being good at more than one thing doesn't imply being the best at any of them.

Anything optimized to more than one variable will inevitably require compromises to be made. Nobody here is suggesting that the best dual use suspension is going to have the best street ride AND the best track handling. This thread is simply referring to a suspension that is best suited to dual use.

That said, different products have different goals and make different compromises and some suspensions are definitely better suited to dual use than others - there, I said that without pointing out any specific brands.

The test car has been sidelined since last April, so development slowed quite a bit

The set we've had on our 335 has proved pretty darn good. Similar changes made - lower gas pressure, different bleed valve - the car did quite well at One Lap of America and is still pretty much a daily driver here in DC.

We have to run Koni's on our new e90 Koni Challenge ST car so we'll be focussed on that for awhile, but we're running the AST's on our new e36 race car and I think maybe on Andy Watts' m3 this season.

I'm very interested in anything you find on this subject... I'll be running AST 4200's on my daily driven STX autocrosser, occasional DE 330, so very similar situation to yours.
