Installing GPS Tracker -OEM Alarm Tirgger??

Hi Guys,

I have recently purchased a GPS tracker (VT310) that allows tracking of my M3 Vert via SMS and GPRS. The tracker has a GSM antenna, a GPS antenna, 5 inputs and 5 outputs. This allows it to detect things such a engine start, door open, or alarm trigger etc. And you can control things such a fuel pump etc. You can get google map links sent via SMS to you so you can see where the car is at any time. Or you can use a tracking service via GPRS and get a log of the vehicle positions. There are a whole host of other features (over speed alarm, geofencing etc).

Installed it in the trunk (behind CD changer) and I have managed install a relay that cuts the fuel pump. It's quite cool to see the car stop after you send it the code to kill the fuel pump.

My problem is trying to figure out how to connect it to the OEM alarm. I would like to be able to detect when the alarm is sounding (by finding a wire that goes live +12V). That way when the alarm sounds no matter where I am I will be sent an SMS.

And I would also like to be able to trigger the alarm (by either earthing a wire or bringing it up to +12V).

Can anyone help out by telling me how I can electronically detect the alarm sounding and how I could trigger it? Without breaking the OEM alarm?

Cheers, Marty.
