E46 Audio Amplifier Upgrade - Need Advice!!!

Hey guys... Okay so I blew a speaker in my e46 sedan 2001 - and decided to just swap them all out for aftermarket JBL's. I replaced the front left and right 5.25's with JBL's GTO series 5.25s and I replaced the rear 5.25's with JBL's GTO Series 6.5's.

The sound is much clearer, BUTTT - theres always a but, it sounds very tingy, somewhat like the trebles up too high or something. Ive been reading around and from what I can tell is that the factory amplifier is designed to power each speaker with a certain frequency and this is why I am running into this bad sound issue.

Ive now decided to replace the factory amplifier as well. Can anyone give me some advice as where to start. Which channel amplfier I need, what the process is, will I need cross overs? Will I need to run anything to the deck?

Thanks for you time guys, this forum has helped me time after time!!!

My Ride: buying soon
I need advice here too. I put in MB Quart 6.25" in the rear deck today. Took them right out. Sounded clear but VERY weak.

It has to do with the ohm rating. I'm still not getting exactly how that works but that's the problem.

Part of the problem could be your crossover points are wrong or non-existent. I think the crossovers are attached to the speaker, not in the amplifier, since it uses caps and coils.

Didn't the JBLs come with a crossover? Buy a 4 ch amp and use that.

Going with aftermarket speakers means you lose power with the OEM amp. OEM speakers are 3 ohms, most aftermarket speakers are 4 ohms.
