Washing Car with Dawn

Stripping off wax, and the cost verses regular car wash shampoos are really the only bad points. It's not harmful enough to damage your paint but it's pointless to use it everytime you wash the car.

Basically...it's hand soap but performs the same function...cuts grease...and since wax has the same chemical make up as grease, it thus cuts through and takes off wax....

Hey Bud,

Don't use Dawn as a regular cleaner. It's interesting that you should ask because I used Zaino Bros. products for the first time this past weekend and the first step described in the instructions was to use Dawn to clean the surface and REMOVE THE WAX. They mention "Dawn" by name. Although my car is relatively new (2002 E46 M3 Cab.) it doesn't matter. According to Zaino Bros., even new cars have contaminents in the paint.

By the way, Zaino Bros. products? Whew! I AM IMPRESSED. Fabulous finish--like a showcar. I'll post some pics later.

i used dawn a few week ago, but i havent washed the car for the past few weeks because of all the snow and rain. Should it use it again or use regular?

You only need to use it if you want to strip wax off, otherwise just use a regular shampoo.
