I checked it out this morning and yes it does have a random function, it plays random from the entire USB.

Hmm, that's pretty cool to know then. And from a couple comments it appears USB stick gets ID3 text displayed now as well. v1 didn't do that, so I guess that changed somewhere along the way.

All the FAQs have already been addressed so that's exactly what you're doing, asking the same questions over and over again and some of the questions were even answered only a couple of posts above yours.

Also, a couple of items you list as "bugs" and say they need to be fixed are not bugs at all, for example your question below......

Firstly, how is it "random" if the music stops when a call comes through, sounds pretty intentional to me.
This is not a bug it's how all bluetooth system works, in all cars, or would you rather answer the phone with music blasting in your ears so you can't hear the call?
And again regarding reversing cameras, they all operate the same way, music is muted when in reverse, it's a safety feature and makes sense when you think about it.

does the new v5 have more than one aux input?

V5 keeped the function of dim button?? The right 'X' there was in the right corner of V.4 DVN-E46 unit. It was great to dim OFF the display while driving in the nights, hope the V.5 supports this.

Everything about this unit sounds great, however, I read on the Dynavin site that the audio out's are only 1.2v... most high-end head units put out 4v (or greater).

Don't get me wrong, the Dynavin looks like a fantastic deal for the price -- but I'm just curious, are there any audiophiles who've installed one and been completely satisfied with the sound quality?
How exactly does the SQ compare to high end HU's and multi-media units? (assuming that you're running quality cables, nice amps & speakers)

dude, I'd rather have my music turned down a little bit and hear some kind of beep instead of music shutting off all of a sudden while im blasting it, and my subs knocking hard. and then all you hear is a huge thump and everything is muted for 5 seconds til your phone is ringing. dont tell me that doesnt bother you lmao. Oh I never even heard of music shutting off when your car is in reverse. So keep your personal comments about my post out until you find all of the answers to my questions that were "answered before". It is easy to say when "yeah you obviously didnt bother to read anything!" but you probably couldnt answer most of my questions unless you have the new V5 Dynavin. capiche

the music turning off when going in reverse is in the V4 unit as well and discussed in Jeff's other thread. so that isn't new. It is something that people found out when they started putting the camera in and jeff confirmed it was supposed to do that and is more of a safety feature.

it may be personal preference, but when the phone rings or I am talking, I want the music off. right now without BT I am constantly turning it all the way down before I make a call or answer one. I can't wait to get this unit. It may not be perfect for everyone, but nothing is ever perfect. I have a pioneer avic d3 in my cobra and at the time, those were so damn good and everyone raved about them. there is plenty with it that I don't like, but I deal with it because overall it gets the job done and is a very nice unit.

at least with dynavin, when the people talk, they listen.

G-Hots, I think you are going to be the only one that doesn't like the muting function. Most vehicles that come with backup camera systems mute when going into reverse as is so it's nothing new to the market. I would definitely want the music to abruptly mute when taking a call on the blue tooth. Nothing more annoying then try to hear two different audio layers or if you were on the other end, nothing more annoying then trying to hear someone talk with their music "blasting". I don't know about you, but I ALWAYS turn my music down when parking. You want to hear your surroundings without distraction. Plus if I'm parking I don't really wanna be attracting attention as I hard park with my music blasting. I find that immature and rude especially if it's in a neighborhood or parking center etc etc.

The V5 no longer has the button to turn off the screen, it does have easy access to the screen controls however so it is easy to just turn the screen brightness all the way down... effectively turning it off.

Most high end units do have high volt preouts....but I wouldnt consider the dynavin "high end".... The dynavin has a basic feature set so if you want extensive adjustments, EQs, crossovers, time alignment, etc...look elsewhere (or run an preamp EQ with all those functions, thats what I do)

I have a full aftermarket system in my car and the RCA outputs seem to have plenty of output, my gains are set low and I have no hiss or anything like that so I would say the voltage is sufficient to run most amps or preamps without issue. (remember .5V was considered standard until only a few years ago)

you are misunderstanding what you are seeing there, if you have the 3G modem you can enable a GPS tracker using dynavins website....and the website uses google maps....

jeff, what do you recommend for a preamp eq? I assume the dynavin just has a bass/treble control as standard but nothing past that? Back in the day I used an audio control EQX, but I don't think I need anything that extreme. I do like changing eq settings though.

I don't know about anybody else but mine automatically dims when i put the lights on anyway.

yeah, the dynavin just has your typical bass, trebble, balance, fader controls.

Im actually using a pioneer DEHP9800BT Head Unit as an EQ.....it works awesome as a preamp, 16 band EQ, fully adjustable crossovers with frequency AND slope controls, time alignment, etc.... I had one on hand so I used it, You could probably pick one up on ebay for a couple hundred bucks.

I put it on an "umbilical cord" for setting, once I was happy with the setup I mounted it to the roof of my trunk so its out of the way but still accessible if I need to get to it.
