Addition to the family 06' 325 XI Touring - Warranty?
Well I just picked up another bimmer on the weekend, 2006 325 XI Touring in black. It has 45,000 miles on it, drives phenomenally (seems to out handle our 03' 325i actually), tan leather (pics to come next week).
The dealer offered an extended warranty through Lubrico for 3 years/22,000 miles extra, and they wanted $2400 for the warranty including taxes.
Now, my 03' has been great, only issue was an HID ignitor (did the work myself and an $85 part), rear spring (maintenance wouldn't be covered anyway), sunroof visor breaking ($35 in parts and did it myself), and brakes, air filters, oil changes, and spark plugs, all which are maintenance. So basically its been a solid car.
What do you think about getting this warranty? It's their premium car plus coverage which means everything including electronics and relays, etc., but I'm doubtful on needing that much in repairs in 3 years. I'm very mechanically inclined, but would shy away from doing transmission work at this point.
Basically the only two things that worry me are the AWD auto transmission (they seem decent as I don't find too many posts about them), and the giant panorama sunroof (as it looks a bit more complicated that the normal one). What do you guys think?
