![]() 2000_328CI, is it possible to give a description of how you spliced into the reverse light wiring or perhaps pics if you took any?

Yeah man I went in through the trunk liner and tapped into the reverse lights to power the camera ONLY when the car was in reverse. Let me know if this makes it a little clearer

Thanks but what I meant was the actual procedure of splicing into the wires, how did you go about it?

You will use one of those red wire taps. Find the reverse light wiring and tsp into the power trough that. I can't remember specifically which wire in that cluster you want to utilize. Peppyr6 helped me with that portion so I will ask him to chime in. I meant to take new pictures but kept helping rather than documenting

found out my camera does not have night vision and does not have the distance intervals. so we will see how it works. not a big deal for me though.
I will probably either use a butt connector or a wire clip to tap into the reverse lights. |

The two wires to tap are brown(ground) and blue/yellow. You also need to remove the glovebox, pull down the fusebox and look up into the compartment to see a black box. Unhook the black box and locate any blue/yellow wire. Use the Dynavin's reverse cam wire (green I think) and tap into the blue/yellow wire (you will need some extension wire as Dynavin wire is only a few inches long.

I've been planning on doing this by putting the camera in my trunk keyhole, but this looks barely noticeable. do you have any daytime pictures?

I'll post a pic when I get home today, I have 3 different reverse cameras and this one is the smallest and least noticeable

OK chaps, can one of you knowledgeable guys help me out with one minor issue.
Camera is installed in the number plate light location and fits perfectly, check, power wire to the inbuilt camera LED is spliced into the number plate light wire, check, power wire from the camera is spliced into the reverse light harness, check. Plugged the supplied video RCA cable into the camera which is then plugged into the reversing camera cable at the back of the Dynavin, check, tested the camera and picture on the Dynavin screen is good, check, however I can only get the picture to come on by manually pressing the camera icon on the Dynavin main screen, it doesn't trigger automatically when I put the car in reverse which I thought by splicing the camera's power wire into the reverse light wiring was supposed to do. So I have missed something but have no idea what it is.

What are you guys using for the entry point back into the trunk for the camera wiring?
Hole drilled through the trunk, behind the removable lip? Or is there a way to fish wire through the existing bundle/grommet (for the lights/trunk release button) in the lip? |
