Dynavin V5 New Firmware

Looks like my friend Jazz just saved me a lot of trouble....

For those of you who do this I suggest you do it EXACTLY as written....

Works great. Fixes the RDS problem. Still no bluetooth/navigation or radio being too loud issue, though they didn't claim this would fix that. Also supposed to enable ipod steeringwheel controls too, but my ipod is broken, so I can't test that.

It is basically a cleaned up bug free version of the ipod steering wheel control firmware that I posted a video of a couple weeks ago.

Just so you guys know, while in ipod mode, "RT" button goes back, long press of "talk" button is select, up and down arrows are self explanatory, turning the tuning knob goes forward and back tracks.

E39s should be in the US maybe late next week? At this point we are just waiting for dynavin to finish up production, get them packaged and shipped. I dont know which firmware they will have installed but it is easy enough to update if they dont.

Take note guys, when it says the Dynavin should be powered off, that doesn't include turning off your ignition. You have to turn on your ignition, then push and hold the left knob until the unit turns off.

if i plan to get the tv functionality when it becomes available, should i do this update or not? It is not very clear on the post.

The OP is in europe and is referring to the european DVB-T Mpeg4 tuner. It is not relevant to US dynavin owners. This new firmware adds the ipod steering wheel controls. If you dont have an ipod, you dont really need to do it.

I did it and it has some nice improvements. Now u can use next and previous on the radio while watching the nav. I think even bluetooth streaming works while watching the nav.

Is the External DVB-T a physically external unit? Its different for the "Mode" DVB-T in the main unit?

I have zh_mcu.bin firmware applied on my DVN_E46 v5 awhile back.

I noticed there are 2 files in the 20-10-2010 firmware update (zh_mcu.bin and zh8202t.bin). You have to do them both, the zh_mcu.bin is an update to what you already have and preps the unit for the second part, which adds the steering wheel ipod controls and fixes a couple other functions.

Your Dynavin is set up for an external tuner, all V5s are. But since the US tuner isnt out yet, it isnt relevant to you.

I have been reading the threads here for some time now and I finally registered here also. Hope i can help some people here also.

You need to update with both zh_mcu.bin and zh8202t.bin files!
zh_mcu.bin file updates the button mappings
zh8202t.bin file updates the unit
If you only update with one of them, you will get into problems.

The external DVB-T part is only relevant if you are in Europe. I'm sure that when Dynavin releases the US version of the DTV tuner, it will come with firmware compatible with this latest device firmware.

Great job. Now I dont have to toggle out of Navi to change radio stations. Am satisfied and happy with these f/w updates. Thanks DVN fanatics et al
