I've seen the question asked but I guess I didn't see the answer. Where exactly is the MAF located? Anyone have a good photo of the location?

I have a Conforti intake, can I just take out the tube with the MAF and spray it with the CRC or is it better to spray the sensor while out of the tube? I want to eliminate the chance of breaking the MAF.
Thanks

you cant take the sensor out of the tube..
just unscrew the rear clip pop out and clean through the rear through the plastic bulls eye grate. if you clean through the front..youre gonna have to spray through the metal mesh and plastic grill so do it from the rear side of the maf.. not really that hard to figure out

I'm glad i found this infomation. I have a 2002 325ci I bought wrecked that Im trying to get back on the road. For the first time I went for a test drive the other day and when I accelerate to about 2000 rpm, the car wants to die and then it kicks back in at 1000 rpm. Now if I accerate slowly it will get up to about 3500 rpm. Also the engine light is on. I trailered it to AutoZone, they hooked up their meter and it said I have a bad MAF. Although when I disconnect the MAF plug it accelerates fine. I am going to try your advice about cleaning it with the MAF cleaner and see if that does the trick.

No you're gonna have to get it cleared. Ive seen gas cap lights, abd cam sensors codes clear after 3 driving cycles but i wouldnt count on the maf. Go to get it scanned and cleared. Try to purchase a new maf from the dealers and eat the cost then buying some cheap one off ebay. ive read too many stories about people who buy remanufactured pieces that go bad the first day. Good Luck!

brake cleaner is very harsh on plastic and rubber. i would avoid it. get an empty spray bottle (or empty one) and use rubbing alcohol with the spray nozzle set to stream. only of course if you cant get the CRC stuff. Im going to get some now and see if it fixes my MPG issue. im also gonna start a new post bc i have no SES light and i lost 80+ miles to a tank. (no its not leaking)

Thanks for the DIY... gonna do this soon.
I've ordered the CRC cleaner from Turner Motorsport along with an OEM air intake filter, and a lot of other self-pleasing junk! If anyone is having trouble locating this product (CRC MAF Sensor Cleaner), Turner has it for $8.99: http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html...ODUCT_ID=05110 . |

NO! Only use CRC MAF cleaner. If you cant find it locally, the site sponsors sell it. |
