Yeah I ended up ordering the 220 (OEM roofrack) as I found it cheaper than the 221 anyways and as you said it should work fine on coupes/M3 as well as sedan.

Also got the Yakima snowboard/ski holder from my link in the previous post for 75 bucks!

Got to get my winter tires now.

Yeah good deal for first time buyers at that place 25% off. I was going to get an Inno Grabmax holder but then found the Yakima for cheaper and thnought I'd give it a try for $75 bucks.

I got a a really good price on the OEM base rack froma vendor too.

Can you update please?

I just intalled the OEM rack (part # ending with 220) and it went on fine mostly, but the front passenger side was a bit tricky to tighten the coded screw down because the crossbar sticks out on that side a little more than the driver side, therefore the wrench-key had couldn't come straight down to get a good grip.

I had to tighten it at an angle that didn't allow it to get a good grip on the screw head. Eventually got it down tight though, but not as easy as the other three ones.

I wonder if the preset position on the driver side was a bit off from the factory. My front bar is slightly off center towards the passenger side (see pic).

I'll add the snowboard holder soon.

Here's a shot of my OEM base w/ bike carrier. The previous owner had it on an E39 so both cross bars had to be re-centered during install. No issues tightening the coded screw due to placement, there is plenty of clearance with the bars centered.

My thule snowboard carrier and fairing should arrive later this week. I'll post pics when they're on.

When you re-centered the bars feet did you adjust just one side (passenger side) feet or did you also loosen the driver side feet to get the bars centered?

Supposedly one side is preset, then you just adjust the other side to fit e46/e39. But as you can see my front bar is kinda lopsided.

I think both sides are adjustable. Read the installation manual. It's there.

Loosen both sides, screw the feet down, center the bars then tighten.

^^^^this rack will fit any beamer? 2003 320i? just clips on? is it cheap looking?

The instruction indicate that one side is preset and to just adjust the one loose side. I think it's preset for the wider e39. The preset side has caps over the bolts.

Centering it will make it easier to get on and off in the future.

82710142220 is for e46/4 (sedan)
82710142221 is for e46/2 (coupe)

I bought used OEM roof racks ($140 C/L) that came off a 5 series car, but the brackets can be moved so they also fit the E46 series. Getting them adjusted spot on took a while, but now that it's done, they install very quickly. Make sure you get the wrench that's keyed to the unique bolt head. A new wrench and 4 bolts is about $70 from the dealer.

The front and back OEM racks look identical, but they are not. The front rack has 3 small wind spoilers on the bottom side of the rack to cut down on whistling.
