Steering wheel shake(not balance).
So my steering wheel has been shaking for awhile. I thought it was a balance problem, but it's not. I've had Style 44s on and it shook. I just mounted my new wheels on that were balanced and they still shake. It usually shakes from 30-50 MPH. I've jacked the car up and checked but it doesn't seem like anything is loose. The control arms also seemed to have been changed by the previous owner as it looks pretty new. Can it just by the control arm bushings as it's a common problem for our cars?

I am having the same problem at around 80km/h.
Things to check: Control arm ball joints Control arm bushings Rotors (shouldn't be warped). Axels I've replaced one control arm (ball joint was bad),and outer cv boot passenger side. I've checked the rotors, and there's only a very minor warp on the driver side (not enough to cause my problem methinks). The bushings look fine, and there's no 'give' or cracks - but I'm thinking about replacing them anyways. Let me know how it turns out. |
