What to do! Oil sump :-(

Right I noticed a puddle on the floor the other day and found why the cars been low on engine oil, the sumps/bolts been threaded! Basically this is all new to me and I don't know how long it's been like this!
I took it to a garage today who were literally closing, they let me pop it on a ramp and basically said 'aluminium sump!' 590+ to replace! They said they were too legit to do anything else :s seemed abit strange seen as they didn't even remove the cover to check the sump plug! Anyways I had a look under it myself, the sump plug looks intact (I.e. The head of the bolt isn't deformed) but it spins freely, I can't tighten it more or even loosen it! I didn't try yanking it out as I didn't want to be under there long (icy floor and normal tyre changing jack!) and I didn't want to remove it and have what's left in there empty it's contents everywhere! Anyways would this be the sump pan or the bolt if the bolt just spins in the hole!?
And other than replacing the sump if it isn't the bolt what's better!? Can it be hydrocoiled!? Or get it sealed and have oil changes done through a hose and a dipstick!? Oh I purchased a bolt just incase it is that!

Any help is much appreciated :-)
