Tires for 03 325xi

I just got this car used with 80k on it, really good condition. I would like to replace the tires and rims sometime in the near future. I went on tirerack.com and was looking at some of the options. They said that 225/40-18 tires would fit the car. Does this sound right?

Also, in terms of wheels, I would like to get something that is close to OEM look, like this: http://www.modbargains.com/BMW-Style-193-Wheels.htm

Can someone explain what offset is? There are two options on the modbargains page ET40 and ET47 and i have no idea what that means.

I would try and find a nice set of used BBS wheels. And put a nice set of 235/40/18 summer rubber on. Keep the stock wheels for winter.

Go for a pair of 16" rims in a similar style. When you get biggger rims on ans Xi you wil put more strain on the Cv axles and the gears in the transmission adn transfer case. Take it from me..i replaced al my axles this summer and took off my 17" s!

They came originally with 17 and tested for a long time, you must have another problem

It was my understanding that CV axles are a normal wear part that will eventually need replacing like Brakes or tires?
