For what its worth, its been estimated that a new subway line running from the end of the current purple line in LA (approximately Wilshire and Western Blvd) to the ocean would cost $350 million...per mile and the distance is over 13 miles. Some quick math tells me that you could buy 4,550 buses that cost $1 million instead of digging that tunnel, and that doesn't even take into account the cost of the trains and station construction...

man those GMC detroits can run on oil for days if they wanted to. True champions. Those new hybrid-elec powertrains in the Orions are GARBAGE omg. I always see at least one broken down at every intersection..

Im not an enthusiast.. I just know tons of ppl that work at TTC yards.. Mechs, Parts, Millwrights (what im applying for @ TTC next yr). To be an enthusiast and actually LIKE transit is a totally different story.

Jacques Chirac is not aware of that episode. Curious since he is the resident gossip/Reichssicherheitshauptamt/CIA/ expert on board.

But the subway system would be an investment in our infrastructure, and would greatly help improve the quality of life and happiness of the people. Plus it's much, much easier to power a rail network with nuclear and alternative energy compared to buses.

When i lived in Milano and frequented Zürich, i always noticed how convenient and nice the tram systems they had were. Especially zurich, it was sublime. I'd never actually considered or remotely enjoyed going anywhere by public transit prior.

I'll take europes rail network over the usa's road network just about any day. And guess which ones easier to run/convert to non petroleum based sources?

3. do you want to be a bus driver?
1. If I saw somebody vandalize a bus from the interior, I'd let the bus driver know after it was complete, so that he can let the CO's look at the footage of the camera's 4 in 40ft and 5 in the 62ft (Montreal)

If it were the exterior of the bus, I'd flag down transit personnel, and try to get a good description of the guy, and get a video wih my ipod, so that I can provide the Transit authority with as much info as possible.

2. the best days of grade 7 would be the bus ride home in the city bus, I then got fascinated on the vehicles, and when I moved from the suburbs to Montréal I got really interested on the engineering, architecture, art, manufactures, technology and I found that there's large groups allover north america and the world who take it to the next level, and actually have garage tours, charters, and meetups.

3. I don't want to be a bus driver, I enjoy rail a lot more, so I would like to be a Métro conductor or train engineer.

Buses if maintained properly can get up to 1,800 000 to 2M km, depending on how many times it was rebuilt

Métro's however. in Montreal they are almost 50 years old, each trainset as of 2007 circled the earth 7 times,. Our system is 69km long, you do the math!

I rode on the bus for the first time this morning. I pissed on the floor of the bus. I saw a bum do it, so I figured it was okay.

yes the Kneeling function evacuates the air from the right side air suspension so the it's lower to the sidewalk and easier to get on.

Same, today i had a bus kneel and it goes back up with a little touch of the pedal.

Depends on the model.

This "boom" I'm talking about happens AFTER the bus pulls away from a stop and is trying to merge with traffic... Sort of like when the driver "floors" it... I hear it often as I drive through rush hour traffic although I've never heard of a bus exploding or catching on fire so it must not be as unsafe as it may seem...
Well, since we're talking about CNG and LNG, very flammable substances, it could be that it does backfire.

The bendy part is called the articulated joint, I prefer the rear of the bus.
A fishbowl is the nickname to the T6H-5307N New-Look from General Motors

Cuz the front window looks like a fishbowl

+1, especially if drunk. In addition to the US, I was hammered on a bus in Cancun and wee-wee'd all over a bus once.
