Car-part.com Just buy a used one...they normally aren't a "wear" item.

Not totally off topic...if we help Brady save a couple of bucks on a MAF then he'll have more for the damper!

But...here's a repost of the last list. Not sure who the gte869h and quacktoduck guys are?

1. aggieE46
2. bluejeansonfire (Payment 1 of 2 Sent)
3. HighBoostin330
4. Zerosum (Payment 1 of 2 Sent)
5. TrippinBimmer (Payment 1 of 2 Sent)
6. gte869h
7. quacktoduck
8. bigjae1976 (Payment 1 of 2 Sent) 1.2590"
9. PEI330Ci (Payment 1 of 2 Sent) 1.2585"
10. AL330CI (Payment 1 of 2 Sent)
The 330 maf from both ms45 and ms43 are larger in diameter than the other m52tu/m54 mafs. MS45 m54b25 also is different, iirc from ms43 m54b25.

Fellas, I'm glad to see the interest is still in this group buy. Believe me I would love to have this damper on my motor. But times have changed for me since my original commitment, and I have other priorities. Frankly, its a cash flow issue.

I regretfully must bow out on the GB. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause the group. Thank you for understanding.

Sincerely,
gte869h

But I totally understand. I wouldn't do it, but my damper is in sad shape. I'm just having to suck it up.

I know a lot of people need to see this happen sooner rather than later, so we might want to establish a payment deadline and proceed from there with ATI.

I'm sure if there's 8 instead of 10 for example, the price change would be minimal.

That's great , put me down for an ATI thread adaptor install tool thing too.

I should have my snout measurement next week, going to use a flyhwheel locking pin instead of using the factory damper holder .

No hurry on that yet until second payment. That is when ATI will mill it to spec.

Uh, I would be carefull with that, I don't think the flywheel lock pin will be able to hold the torque you need to remove and install that damper bolt.

You might shear or bend that pin and cause yourself a world of hurt.

Yeah that is the main concern. I have yet to obtain a locking pin to assess its strength but may just make one from high grade stainless.

I know others that have used this method, with one mechanic claiming to have replaced dampers on over 20 E46,s. I will post again with my progress.

The pin is pretty stout, I was considering that. I hate to buy the tool just to use once.

While I admit that it might be a possibility, it's never happened to me and this is the method I use.

The key I think is to use a quality locking pin. I got mine from Baum tools, and it seems to be similar in material to impact sockets.
