I fully acknowledge that I don't have a life. That gives me an edge.

That RRA PDS Pistol is sexy! I now remember seeing some Kel-Tec AR pistols that resemble the pic I posted and they were piston systems.

From the people I've talked to, the RRA PDS is the only legitimately reliable AR pistol that does not employ a receiver extension tube. I really would like to get one and attach the folding stock from the PDS carbine. That'd be a fun SBR to slap together.

Only 6 days until SHOT Show 2011!!
I'm not going, but Trijicon has promised 4 exciting product reveals. They already revealed the new bow hunting AccuPin sight, and there are 3 other products they're keeping under wraps until SHOT.

From Trijicon:

A Revealing SHOT Show in 2011

The debut of the WICKED Trijicon AccuPin Bow Sight System is the first of four exciting new products from Trijicon in January 2011. The other three products launching at the 2011 SHOT Show will also light up your eyes. Set your sights on www.trijicon.com January 18, 2011 to see for yourself!

The rumors have been flying that Trijicon is making an AccuPoint TR24 1-4x scope with an ACOG-style BAC reticle, complete with bullet drop compensation reticle. Talk about the ultimate 1-4x scope!
Also, there have been rumors that Trijicon MAY release a 1-6x AccuPoint scope. I don't know how realistic this one is, since Swarovski is the only scope company so far to release one of these. If Trijicon releases one, I would anticipate a massive backlog with tons of orders. A proper CQB capable 1-6x scope would be HUGE.
I know the 1-4x w/ ACOG reticle is more feasible, but both would make my day. Hoping that one or both of these are introduced next week.

I'm sure The Sportsmans Channel will have coverage, but nothing live. In recent years, the best place to see SHOT stuff is to check out YouTube in the days following the SHOT show. Lots of net bloggers, vloggers and YouTubers will post stuff.
I'm sure we won't see anything substantive until January 22nd or so. Still, it's only 1.5 weeks away to see if Trijicon delivers.

Speaking of AR pistols...

Look at what CDNN just sent me:

Doesn't seem like a bad price, just needs a little rail system. I've heard some bad stuff about Kel-Tec but it could be just arm chair warriors (or what ever they call 'em) talking junk.

Kel-Tec rifles are decent enough, but the quality is pretty cheap. They're not all that durable.

what do you think of the price (or is one of those "you get what you pay for")?

I think it depends on what you expect out of the weapon. What's the purpose you intend to use it for? I look at it as a novelty handgun. They market it as a target and hunting pistol. I can't imagine it's all that accurate with a pencil-thin barrel like that, and I can tell you that if you heat that sucker up, your accuracy will really go downhill.
If you think it's worthy of your attention for a nifty plinking and range pistol, then it seems like it'd be an okay purchase. As a novelty, the price is decent enough.
However, as a defensive or offensive weapon, I would opt to look elsewhere.

It certainly doesn't look too bad once you accessorize it, though.

I was thinking more of a defensive weapon to be used in a business, traveling, possibly home defense (I have no neighbors for collateral). Looking at some online reviews, guys are putting down some nice groups:

This was laid this down at 100 yds

My wife likes it trying to get her to go in half due to my other AR build

I never trust a grouping unless there are 5 rounds. Usually by the 5th round, you can tell if the accuracy will stand up to the barrel heat.

If you want to use it as a defensive weapon, go to town I guess. If you use a single point sling on the rear, you can push the gun out and use the European Technique for controlled firing. I'd personally abstain from using it and just use an SBR, but to each their own.

When you look at how big it is, it just seems like it'd be better to build an SBR with a 7" barrel and call it good. At least you get control. With that thing extended on the sling, it's taking up the same amount of space as my AR PSD/PDW build w/ a Noveske 7.5" barrel.

SH IT! Trijicon seriously pissed me off. Looks like the rumors about an AccuPoint scope with a BAC-BDC reticle are just that- rumors. Trijicon did not deliver. I'm royally pissed right now.

I have like 15 people going with me to the local gun show tomorrow, this should be interesting... lol. One of them is extremely liberal; took him shooting last weekend and now he wants to buy a gun, go figure. One at time guys, we"ll get their minds right.

Saw some tactical Remington 700's at the gun show this weekend. Starting to get the itch again.... Price of scopes are going to push the possibility back a lil bit though

My left wing buddy bought a SIG 229 though lol

I'm seriously digging the SCAR 17S for a battle rifle/SSR. I've been thinking about it for a while, but since there's been a lot of press lately on it, I'm definitely thinking that this rifle needs to work its way into my collection at some point. I was originally considering the POF P308, but after having played around with the SCAR a lot more recently, I like the ergos of the gun and the capabilities that come with the design. The weight is also a nice feature.

SCAR-17S article: http://www.americanrifleman.org/articles/fn-scar-17/

Was originally looking at the SCAR-17S, and then considering a new Weaver(ATK) Tactical 1-5x scope, or spend a bit more on the USO SN-4 1.5-6x on top,

But now I'm seriously considering the SCAR SSR (Sniper Support Rifle), supposing it comes in under $4k.

I really want to shoot the 17S, and then I'd like to buy one since my M1A/M21 build basically fits the SSR role and I don't have a battle rifle in my collection. However, it's hard to pass up on 1/4 MOA with the SSR.
