What really matters is not so much the degree of coverage on the car, but the amount of liability covered. In Canada most people get at least $1 million. This is what I have and I'm paying something like $300 per month for a 325xi. I tried to lower it by increasing the deductible, etc, but it made almost no difference.

I'd be curious to see what amounts of liability you have in the States. Someone here told me that in the US the legal liability requirements are much lower and so most people have much lower liability coverage, which results in lower premiums. I'd like to see if that's really the case.

When I moved from Iowa to Toronto, my insurance rose by the factor of 6 (no joke). It's a highway robbery here (not the only one, sadly).

My father has about 10 cars and no accidents or tickets and he can't get per car rates that low on cars that sit in storage.

Anyhow, m3, x5, range Rover and a house 340 a month. That covers my wife and I both on all cars.
