slow brake fluid leak

alright, i have a slow leak in my brake system, i have to top off the master cyl from the min. level to max. about every 2-3 weeks. (this has been put off because car was in body shop a few weeks having warrenty work done on the paint)

there is still good brake pressure so air is not getting in the system. i have to do the brakes soon anyways, so my thoughts are to rebuild the calipers, pads, rotors, and new ss lines to replace the rubber ones since the car has 183k. i could not find any lines under the car that looked like they were leaking.

do you think the fluid is being lost at the seals at the calipers or should i be concerned about the master cyl? i did not see any brake fluid on the firewall.

Take the time to carefully look over the entire brake system until you find the source of the leak, don't just assume that it's from one of the parts you plan to replace. Remember to check your clutch master and slave cylinders as well since they share the reservoir with the brakes.

Does the inside of your car smell like brake fluid? Is the carpet behind your clutch pedal wet?

^^^not wet from what i can tell. i will double check the carpet but no smell. it sucks that this decided to happen in the middle of winter, roads are almost always wet so trying to get this in the air when its not wet underneath is rather difficult.

ive never had a brake leak that was slow like this where it would still have brake pressure. every other time ive had an issue the pedal would instantly sink.

it is a 5speed too, but the loss of fluid dosent seem to affect the clutch hydralics at all. seems like its just the brake.

The clutch slave or master could be leaking, or possibly you are driving so much that you need to add to make up for worn pads, just a thought.
