hid question help please!
i ordered a set of hid for my high and low beams. i already installed the low beam and i am super happy with the result i am worried about the high beams since my daytime running light is thru the high beam. is there anyway to over ride the day time runners? i have a 2000 323i sedan and obviously not with the xenons. thanks for the help!

Don't run HIDs in halogen housings. It's really dangerous to other drivers and just looks tacky. Get some projectors.
A dealer or someone else with an equivalent tool has to code your DRLs off. As I just said in another thread, some dealers will try to over charge you for it, even though it's a quick process. I'd see if any indie shops around you can do it first.

Not to be ignorant but how does a hid kit in my car make it dangerous to another driver?

HIDs in halogen bowls reflect REALLY badly. A projector style headlight focuses the incredibly bright light of an HID into a beam, where as with a halogen bowl, all of the HID's light is just reflected in every direction, including into the faces of other drivers.
90% of the time, when you're blinded by "HIDs," it's someone who just put HID bulbs in a halogen housing, because with properly aimed HIDs in projectors, the light doesn't blind other drivers.

That makes sense unfortunatly I got a little carries away with window tint (5% all around and 35% windsheild) so the added light was a asap must. Ill look into the projectors just never been a fan of there looks. Do you know if the dlr issue can be solved w a higer end scan tool? I own a small repair shop intown and it'd be embarassing to have to take my car the the dealership lol

I'm not sure what tools can do it. Have a look around the software forum on bimmerforums. You'll be able to find all the coding information you could dream about there.
