Building a s54
Hey guys, I tried to do some research on this board and most other bmw/m3 boards but didn't really find the answer I was looking for. Maybe I didn't use the right keywords? I dont know, but apologize if this question has been answered before.
I am going to have to pull my s54 and replace the bearings because previous owner ran the wrong oil. I want to go ahead and put forged pistons/rods in the thing. I have looked on hpf and activewerks website for what they carry. And I found the rods I "think" would be best suited for me on hpf's website link As for pistons I am unsure of, I was considering JE? Because I have used them in the past for my lsx cars. Would anyone have a recommendation towards a different brand? And a place I could possibly buy the pistons from? Also this might be a really retarded question but what bearings should I go with? My goal with the motor is simple: build it to stock specs except with forged internals. Maybe later on down the line throw a little bit of forced induction its way. I have also considered how the compression ratio is 11.5:1 I should get 10:1 compression pistons maybe? Since I plan on going FI in the future? I appreciate any help or advice I can get. Thanks Ahead Nam |
