This is my first attempt at a macro refraction shot. Any tips or suggestions on how to position the light source so it is not captured in every water drop? I don't have anything but on-camera flash. I was using a trouble light for this pic (as if you couldn't tell).

Nice composition but I wish you processed to make the colors pop more......especially the grass and the sky. I would have looked like a painting.

Yeah, I didn't want to overdo it, I pushed the sky a bit in PS, but wanted to keep it as close to what I saw as possible. The grass could pop more I admit.

i do go out for hours to a certain lake but i go to look for osprey fishing so I don't even look for the egrets and herons, so those opportunities just come to me. It also helps to know where to go and what to look for, which takes a little time figuring out. Also if you stare at the same bird for long enough you'll eventually see it do something. They eat all day.
