2002 E46 318i Touring: Oil Change, Coolant Change - Now Rough Idle

Hi Guys,

I changed the oil and oil filter recently. as well as the coolant. - actually only drained the radiator and topped up with new coolant mix. used the air bleeder and no air in system. not overheating either. and level is just below max. the car is driving much better than it was. However, since then the car has an idling problem. car races from about 750 to 1500 rpm every 3/4 seconds. -

any ideas? is the idling problem related to the changes??

regards

Make sure you put oil filter cap on properly with only one 0-ring and it in the groove about 1/2" below cap flange.

Check that you didn't crack ccv hose when remove oil filter cap...it's very brittle when it gets old.

You have an ordinary air filter? Did you maybe clean and oil yours...if so, throw away, get paper and clean maf with maf cleaner.

Try disconnecting maf and see if it runs better...if so, think either cleaning coz of the filter...or just 'coz,' and think leak in intake...were you poking around by throttle body maybe? wiggling intake boots around? Sounds like the famous cracked lower intake...but...I don't know.

How much of what oil did you change? Not to start oil thread, but I hope the bottle said LL-01...the same as I hope the last oil change said!
