Newbie to posting!

This is my first post, I have mostly monitored and used the list for info. I made my first e46 purchase yesterday with 113,000 on it. (this is my 4th BMW, all e39's).
However the seller told me there was a small oil leak, and when I checked it out it looked clean? I didn't give it much thought. He had Control arms done along with bushings and pullies. I picked it up yesterday and found a pretty good amount of oil on the floor of my garage this morning. Will you get quite a bit of oil from a valve cover gasket being bad? I hope it's nothing more serious? It seems to be coming from the passanger side of the motor.
