Lowering springs question
Never really done anything with lowering my car, but im thinking about lowering it a bit. Just a few questions, whats a good amount to lower it, i have stock 17", but may upgrade to bigger wheel. Also, whats a good kind of lowering springs that wont break the bank. Im going to do some research regarding the topic, but just trying to get some input from people who may have done it.
thanks paul

im on H&R race springs.. ebay has them for around $225
they make you significantly lower but your car will will not be slammed and you would still have room for bigger rims in the future

yea i looked at the H&R set, not to bad, should I do springs and shocks or just springs? Would coilovers be to much? If not, what kind of coilovers?

I'd recommend springs and shocks, you will end up replacing the factory shocks and save on labor by doing it all at once. The H&R Cup Kit is the best value IMO and pairs either the H&R Sport or H&R Race with H&R branded shocks depending on how low and firm you need it.
The other more comfortable solution is the Koni FSD/Eibach Pro Kit. I also suggest upgrading your Rear Shock Mounts and replacing at least the Front Control Arm Bushings if you have not done so already. |

The key to keeping costs down is borrowing an Autozone spring compressor and using this DIY
http://www.e46fanatics.com/howto/how...hp?howto_id=12 Eibach ProKit spings are $225 at TireRack http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/S...2&autoModClar=

whats a good size drop? I've been looking and some of these kits drop your front end like 1.1 or 1.4 in the front and generally .75 in the back, will that be to low if I want to upgrade to bigger wheels later? Am I going to be able to clear speed bumps with that drop? sorry if these questions are stupid, but like I said, I've never done this before

Eibach Prokits drop 1.4" F and 1.4" R
H&R sport drops 2.0" F and 1.4 R My experience is that keeping the slight factory front gap is better for braking dip and cornering lean and it also allows you to just clear curbs and cement blocks in parking lots. You see Dinan suspension looking the same.

Unlike competitors spring and shock kits H&R Cup Kits are not merely a 'matched' spring and shock package but rather a specially engineered 'solution' with springs and shocks being engineered individually in every application.
This takes the guess work out of your spring and shock selection and provides you with an application specific precisely calibrated spring and shock set designed to deliver improved handling un-compromised ride comfort and sleek styling in one precision engineered package.
