@ sillieidiot,
I will try to find that seal. Is there anyone with a photo from the seal? For new bulbs I`m thinking about Osram Xenarc Cool Blue D2s Intense 5000K. They schould be very good. I hate it there is so much imitation philips and that kind of stuff... |

So is it possible to replace the ballast and test before doing the auto-leveling and taking out the ignitor? Also for cars that have headlight washers do you have to clamp off the hose that connects to the light or empty the washer container or is that part not attached to what is removed? Thanks.

yes, that is what i always suggest people to do. this DIY was just to show how to identify and take each component out as necessary
on my diy to take the headlights out, there are instructions for those that have headlight washers

Thanks I've tested the bulb and am now testing the ballast so far. A lot easier than I thought.

Very nice write up. Is this a normal problem in the bixenon wiring harness? Do you think rewiring is possible?
After a little snipping and soldering the light is functional again. The condition of the dynamic HID lights might be something to check when looking at a car, because those aren't cheap to replace. Last edited by i dont know; 06-22-2011 at 12:45 PM. Reason: follow up |

Hey sillieidiot, I have a question regarding the adjusters. On the xenon headlights, the adjusters and screws are different due to the auto-leveling motors. How can I get the xenon assembly into the halogen housing and still be able to use the adjusters?

GET THE OSRAM CBI's!!!!! i just got them in and they are so bright! samae stock 35w ballast and people actually ask me at the gas station what i'm running! (i'm talking like 55+ year old guys with stock, non-modded bmw's and audi's). just goes to show how bright they are. I don't know how osram increased light output with the same 35w input, but they are certainly brighter! deer light up like tin foil on a black background. a user actually did a test with the 85122's and the cbi's actually threw 55% MORE light than the 85122's! it was something like 2700 lumens vs 4400 (arbitrary measurement, but the relative difference is what makes the reading) |

awesome write up
sillieidiot-
thanks for your help with which brand I had. I finally got the new ignitor and just replaced it with the help of this DIY. It took about 30 minutes start to finish. I found the hardest part was removing that final 'ball and socket' to release the inner reflector. thanks again- Chip
