I'd be lying if I said I didn't buy it for the name...but it's supposed to be a really high quality product. I also do like the trigger guard. It's about the same room that a Magpul trigger guard gives you, but you still have clean lines along the bottom.
My next receiver, which will be for the .300AAC Blackout build, will have to be one of the other billet options. The LaRue OBRs are insanely accurate for gas guns. The OBRs cleaned up at the 2010 US Army International Sniper Competition.

FYI- I just went to the range to pound on my PSD AR a bit, and pumped through 250rds in about 30 minutes. Nothing spectacular, but just a way to keep the gun running on some downtime. No malfunctions, and the system worked great with all the reliability upgrades. However, the extra power extractor spring is causing the extractor to rip the crap out of the case rim. All the casings I shot wouldn't be able to be reloaded without some touch-up on the casings. For a training course or duty, this upgrade is excellent. However, if you want to reload the brass, use a regular extractor.

LaRue is HERE!!!
The LaRue LT-15 billet lower is a tank. It's solid, precise, and of an amazing build quality. This is one of the best lower receivers I've ever put my hands on. It's a fantastic platform for a build, and I can really see that there was some serious thought put into the design of the lower. I was concerned that the trigger guard might not be big enough, but it's just perfect. The contour is good, and there is metal taken out of the sides to allow better comfort for when I index my trigger finger. I can't wait to get this thing built. NFA paperwork is going in immediately, so I should have myself a sweet new rifle in about 4 months. ![]() ![]()

$250. Very affordable for a quality part, IMO.

That's friggin hilarious!
![]() I would actually put something goofy on the line, except for the fact that I REALLY need this rifle by this summer. June is the absolute latest I can wait for this rifle. I don't want to take any chances at any extended delay. I have some pretty high-level training lined up this summer and fall, and this rifle is going to be my go-to training rifle. I have to get the rifle registered/approved, built, then broken-in and proof tested. Then I have to put about 1k-2k rounds through the gun before I can go do the training with it to work out any kinks.

Dammit. Waffling moment #23: Now having an issue with the Aimpoint decision.
WAS going to get the Aimpoint Comp M4s w/ LaRue Tactical QD Mount 500-014-659 for $751.60. Now Aimpoint came out with the PRO (Patrol Rifle Optic), which is a modified M2 with a new QRP2 mount for $400.00 (MSRP is $440, but it's for sale online at $400). I know I want another Aimpoint, and I was set on the M4S. Now that there's a $351 price point advantage, it's going to be hard. I'm waiting on confirmation that the PRO will have a lower 1/3 co-witness as opposed to the absolute co-witness of the original QRP mount. I don't want an absolute co-witness, as I think it takes up too much FOV in optic when scanning for threats.

i'm running a micro t-1 and love it, super small package and lightweight, if your not running a pvs 14, then i'd get an h-1 instead, but as far as full size aimpoints the "pro" is pretty tempting

I run a T-1 also. I just want something slightly bigger with a larger tube and a 2MOA dot for my current new build.

![]() ![]() j/kI thought you were going VLTOR Emod? Also, just a thought, ditch the Aimpoint and go Elcan Specter DR or Elcan Red dot. Both much nicer than the Aimpoints..They can take just as much abuse IMO.

The current 11.5" build will be VLTORized. Elcan? I'll throw an Aimpoint up against an Elcan any day of the week for durability and weight consideration. Besides, it's a 7.5" barrel. What the hell am I going to use magnification for? I'd be lucky I could pull 2500fps out of that barrel with M193.

For a RDS, I'll likely never switch away from Aimpoint. Aimpoints have been the most rugged sights I've ever used. Given all the reports I've been getting from other RDS users, the Aimpoint is the only sight that consistently does not malfunction or fail in the field or on the range.
If I'm going to drop $2k+ on optics for an AR, I'll buy the new IOR 1-10x, or spend a few more dollars and buy the S&B PMII 1-8x short dot or the Premier V8 1.1-8x. 1.5x/6x mag range, that's the mag range I want for a battle rifle/SCAR setup. I'll likely go with a USO SN-4 1.5-6x for that range, and still save $1k. In terms of 1x/4x, there are lots of scopes that are just as effective for the same or less. I can pick up a used S&B PMII 1.1-4x short dot for the same as a Elcan, or several various 1-4x options like Vortex, USO, NF, Trijicon, etc. for less. Elcans are great, but as I said in another forum, they're just so damned expensive. YIKES.
