Strange vert top issue

Hey all. So a few days ago I start the car and hear a clicking from the rear. I then notice the upper vert light blinks occasionally, coinciding with the clicking. At no time did I even touch the top controls. I got home and tried the top. It went down and up fine. The noise stopped and the light stopped blinking.

Fast forward a few days and the clicking sound/blinking light reappeared. The top goes down but on its way up it stopped just before the windshield. I believe the clicking is coming from behind the right rear interior panel, not from the motor under the rear seat. I remove the rear seat and that panel and see two relays there. I try the top again, a couple of times, and now it works fine. Of course, now that I have removed the seats and interior there is no more clicking noise!

I think one relay is for the rear defroster but no clue what the other one is for. Does anyone know? Thanks.

Now by "right rear interior panel" do you mean passenger's side or driver's side?

OK, I was finally able to figure which relay it is. BMW part#61.36-1 389 105, Siemans/Tyco #V23134-K52-X181. It was clicking away like mad on my drive home. Still no idea what it does or if it is a bad relay or something is sending it a bad signal?
