i used to eat just the whites. then i decided there's too much back-and-forth about the benefits/detriments of the yolk and im too cheap to waste food

Yeah there can be issues if your diet is primarily one food item (a lot of people suggest varying your protein sources throughout the day). So while there's a grain of truth, it sounds more like she's just repeating wivestales.

you're assuming she knows way more than she does. She said "not good for you". Meaning it is bad for your overall health. Nothing about getting the best results.
