How is hardware different if the Android is built using Windows compatible hardware? Im interested to know. A Mac OS would make sense but even then there are ways around it to make it work on a Windows hardware machine. Probably a faster processor installed or more memory? That actually makes sense since WindowsCE isnt really a hardware hog and the Android might need more power to run.

Im not sure that I have been clear enough....the GPS related hardware is completely different, there is zero windows hardware in this device, there is DVD/Radio hardware and there is Android hardware. The android hardware is basically the guts out of an android phone/tablet. There are multiple hardware tweaks to the "radio side" as well to accommodate the different functionality of the android hardware.

When can I purchase it and where can I purchase it from? Jeff your site doesn't have it posted yet :/

UPDATE: I just checked and Umnitza is selling the Android based versions, does this mean that they are already out there? Or is it just a pre ordering system they have going on?

Is it the same screen as the previous versions? If so, I assume it does not support multi-touch, or even slide scrolling?

Correct, same touch screen as the windows version, no multitouch. Its got zoom buttons where necessary. Im not sure what you mean by side scrolling.....you can swipe the screen side to side.

Gestures however need to be deliberate as this is just a basic resistive touch screen, dont expect ipad type response!

Do the steeringwheel buttons work on the android side music? For instance, if I was listening to MP3s from the Android music player, can the steeringwheel buttons provide skip, back, etc?

no, its just like on the window unit, the android part of the unit exists completely separate from the radio side, only the screen and the audio output is shared between them.

I dont know......I cant seem to sign into the google market, network error, like its trying to access through a cell network instead of the wifi network, although a third party program seems to work fine....however I dont know what I am doing so who knows! Ill talk to dynavin to see what the best way to get apps on this thing is going to be.

EDIT: time/date bug was causing a bunch of issues. Firmware updated, problem solved.

I would gladly pay 100 bucks extra to get the android nav, I'd pay 200 more for the whole unit to run on android.
Its 2.2. Yes I think google maps does cache with this thing, I got one in my car yesterday and used the nav, I was also playing with my phone's wifi hotspot at the same time and noticed it was off.....google maps was still functioning although the maps was ...greyed out and zoomed out....simplified without sat photo detail, ill have to play around some more with this to figure out how it works.

You probably have to set it up with a Google account to make the market work. Go to settings -> accounts and add your gmail account, or create one if you don't currently have one.

Any news on an ATSC tuner for the US?

This is great! Jeff, you don't have to ask me. Just switch my pending order to the Android OS, ofcourse, if you haven't already distributed them all. I've been playing with Google's OS for a bit. Android is surely a promising platform to use for these units. A solid choice by Dynavin.
You'll see some limitations, but Android is still in its infancy relative to Windows, the limitations will quickly dissolve.

One of the major benefits of using Android is that Google is in a cut-throat fight with Apple to gain market share in the tablet world, this battle will most definitely transfer well for the Android units. We will get to share the benefits of this fight with regular functionality and eye-candy updates as well as constant support from an enthusiastic Android community. Again this is a wise move by dynavin. Good for them and us!

Would be AMAZING if they switched to a capacitive touchcreen. Not only would it be brighter and less affected by glare, but ease of use would be great.
