WOW that looks great! I was definitely expecting you do be just sticking some HID's in your halogen bowls, lol. This will definitely help people who want to convert to HID's the right way on a budget.

Edit: Also, how do you get the bi-xenon to work? Last edited by Chris-alfonso; 05-07-2011 at 06:57 PM. |

Extended does, for a fact (c'mon, let me be right for once lol), have a flat top. It's just not as pronounced. The overall diameter of the shroud is larger, so you can hide more stuff behind it.

So which one do you think would look better? And would the extend fit since it has a bigger diameter.

Get the regular one. Extended will likely not fit in the headlight properly.

Nice retrofit, definitely a great alternative for people who want something better than P46s without spending the coin for OEM. Does anyone know if the D2S morimotos be retrofitted as easily?

the D2S is bigger at the bulb area, i doubt it would fit.

thanks guys, and yea the d2s morimotos wont fit unless you do some trimming but if your already gonna trim your headlights might as well go all the way and do the fx=r instead right? =P

That's a shame. Doesn't really matter to me since I've got OEM HIDs, but I've got a couple buddies that would like to do HID retrofits, and the ease of this retrofit makes it pretty trivial. D2S woulda been nice just so Philips and Osram bulbs could be used

actually, i think the morimoto d2s might be able to fit fine if ou knock out the h7 adapter plate from the housing, i forgot the h1 mini had quite a bit of gap in the opening after i took out the plate...so it might fit, the d2s isnt really all that much bigger...someone try? lol

Thank you very much for sharing this DIY.
Please forgive me if it was covered here on a different post. I have a 2000 touring (pre-face on the sedan???) with halogen set up. This DIY project can be done on mine, correct? I’m thinking on going with the mini kit http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...2vtq87dqn0s5jg and get all the needed parts (bulbs and ballast, etc) with just one vendor. I know it will exceed the budget as intended in the write-up but I do not trust DDM - to many negative remarks on multiple forums. I also want to get it done in a one stop-shop. How hard is it to align the lights to the proper aim? |
