H&R cup kit with passengers?

Hey guys I'm really considering trying the cup kit set but I'm torn between getting the "touring" version or the "sport" version, I say that cause this will be on my DD and I do like to carry passengers in my car, wanted to know any feedbacks about having full cabin while on the cup kits, any rub, bottom out? Anything helps thanks!

I can't directly answer your question based on the fact I've never owned the Sport or Touring Cup kit.

I can tell you that when I endlessly researched suspension systems for my Bimmer, I came across quite a few people that had strut/shock failures with the H&R Sport Cup kit. Then I learned that H&R only warranties there strut/shocks for 1 year. So after 1 year, your outta luck.

Forum sponsor Turner Motorsport carries both the H&R Sport & touring combo, & the Bilstein and H&R Sport/race set. I went with the Bilstein and H&R race setup, I've been very happy with this suspension. The Bilstein and H&R combo come with a Lifetime warranty, so no worries if you ever experience a problem.

For your application I'd recommend the Bilstein/H&R Sport suspension system, as to any bottoming out with a full load, you should call Turner & H&R directly. I cant see that it would, based on the fact that your not slammed to the ground on any of these suspensions.

Turner Motorsport
H&R Sport/Touring $742.85
Bilstein / H&R Sport $819 http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-36...uspension.aspx
Cost effective RSM $39 http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-34...unts-pair.aspx

Good luck.

My Ride: IR M3 Vert.
my car had the sport cup kit, with damn near 100k miles on it.
RE RSMs, never had a failure, even when the shock blew out.

never had an issue with passengers either, even with my fiberglass enclosure in the trunk adding another permanent 150+ lbs.

come to think of it, yeah it has over 100k mile son it. about to switch to eibach coilovers when i get home, but the fronts are still on, and i only changed the rear cause the shocks were blown and wanted a lower sitting spring. so now it has Bilstein sports + Tien s tech spring in back, and that also rides well, better id say as the spring is softer.

Hey snik,

About how many miles did your H&R Cup kit rear shocks have on them before they blew out ?

mmm, id estimate about 80k+ or so.
bought the car used and added about 60k to the suspension myself, before changing them. Think the PO put it on after the warranty ran out.
Front struts arent done yet, but they def dont ride like they used to.

Cool thanks for the response guys, 80k isnt too bad I mean for what u pay for it I think 80k on rear struts pretty much paid for itself

And I'll def look in to h&r race spring with blistiens setup from turner for lifetime warranty for a few $$ more

I'd still be thinking Sport, not race, for your application.

Good luck.

Rob what's the drop difference between the sport and the race springs ? I thought race springs would have a higher compression rate or am I wrong

Im on a sport cup kit with spacers, no rear shock pads, and RE RSM's. I rub with anyone else in the car besides me but only because of the spacers. You can forget about 85% of speed bumps to, but don't get me wrong its definitely manageable.

I just installed the sport kit (race springs) to my 325i Vert. Once finished loaded up the car with 4 people and took for a nice hard drive and not one problem. HOWEVER, I still do have the stock 16" wheels.. size should be same.. but that gave a lil cushion on the ride, which I was very surprised.. Not sure how is going to be with 17" or 18" wheels.. we'll see

325i with a sport cup kit and staggered 19s. No rubbing even with passengers in the car. My car didnt have sports suspension so the kit dumped the look of my car quite a bit.
