Would it be a bad Idea to(once the car is done)drive the car down to nick with the Stage 1 tune? That should be safe right considering ill have the 8.5psi spring in? I guess it will actually be a little bit slower with with the lower compression. Oh and yes supporting mods indeed I plan on getting new/stronger clutch and LWFW. LSD Not sure if I will use factory engine mounts or not I have 2 brand new ones laying around. Not sure what else I need. All in all the reason I'm doing this is not because I want more power but because I blew the engine sucking up water a few times .

I wish I had the guts to do what you are doing.....I'm too chicken **** to touch any thing beyond the valve cover gasket.

Driving on the stage 1 tune should be fine, low compression tunes can run more timing at the same boost levels, so you should be safe as long as your EGT's aren't out of control.

on the back of your motor. When you go to a LWF, it's like removing one of your harmonic balancer's. And the front one is not that great to begin with. Chances of having a high RPM oil pump failure now go way up. That's why PEI330CI & I both recommend getting the ATI dampener and the Greg Smith "vaio76109" Upgraded Oil Pump. Those two pieces would be the best insurance you could put on your new motor. Good Luck.

I won't go into details, but many have good luck with just welding the nut on a stock BMW oil pump. Many of those I speak of are racing their cars (no VIN).
That said, the dual mass is kindof nice in a street car. You won't get gear rattle, and driving around will be easier on you...

Seems like how I'll be using the car I won't have any problems. Now that my motorcycle is running (and gets 55mpg)I'll still ride that most of the time. But I think ill have enough to get the Oil pump now and damper later. Although it does worry me that when I took the oil pan off the nut was loose.

Yes....they're 248/248 I seem to remember reading a recent thread on these, I don't think they made much at all over stock M54B30 cams. Also, if you did get these, make sure they're HARDENED, if not....well you know where I'm going. PM sent.

I would keep the OEM cams and put your $$ into getting the engine back up and running. There are costs coming that will surprise you a bit, but it's all part of rebuilding a BMW engine.
