Tried Daniel a few times on his mobile, hes not picking up. maybe a bit busy will try next week again.


does anyone know how to go about getting a cars full history? e.g. no of owners etc i know its very easy in canada to get that info, anyone with a car dealer license can log on and get it.

Has anyone here had any experience with car insurance claims through AAMI?

Specifically has anyone tried to get them (or their insurance company) to pay the cost of repair by cheque/cash so you could put it towards new parts instead?

aami are the biggest bunch of c#$ts ever. ive got so many bad stories about them its not funny. EVERY time ive had a disagreement with them its ended up costing them more than if theyd just agreed with me in the first place.... Im not even with them, but ive dealt with them numerous times from ppl that have hit myself and friends.

if you want to do it that way u need to know the panel shop that is doing the "repair" so they can use the money for aftermarket items instead.

I'm going to see a panel shop tomorrow, the owner is a friend of my brothers, so we'll see how I go.

Who is the best insurance company to go through? Will be changing mine over when it's due to be renewed.

I'd assume they would be similar to Just Car as they own them. I have had good experiances with Just Car - they gave me choice of repairer (which isn't in their policy), genuine parts, and the inspection and repairs were carried out in a week. This was a not at fault repair however...

I would assume it makes a big difference to them if you are the at fault party or not.

My car stalled while parked on a decline, and instead of the handbrake and gear stopping it, it ran into the back of a friends car. I don't suppose they would see that as the cars/no ones fault

There isn't that much damage, but I would rather a new bonnet than anyone repairing it. I don't pay that much a year in insurance for shitty repairs.

Charlie Battistie took care of everything and spoke with AAMI (at fault driver's insurance) and sorted everything out. They did a perfect job too including my request for an Mtech2 bumper. They charged me not a sent more than what it cost them on top of the standard bar. I couldn't have asked for anything more. Didn't have to involve my insurance (youi) at all.

All that told me is I'm pretty much screwed and need to change my insurance to someone else..
My excess + age excess is more than the quote to repair my car (*cough* repair my bumper and paint my new bonnet *cough*)!
If it wasn't for my friends $615.00 repair quote, I wouldn't claim it, but with the bill that high I suppose I'll need to now.
