Does anybody have information about the S&W M&P .22?

I am looking to purchase a 1911 style 22lr pistol and came across the Smith & Wesson M&P 22 on their site. It looks like it would be exactly what I want, but I cannot seem to find out if it is available, or when it might be released. I was looking at the Beretta U22 Neos prior to seeing the S&W, but have heard mixed reviews on that. Any information on the M&P 22 would be appreciated, as well as any feelings about the U22 Neos. Thanks in advance.

I didn't know they made that. I'm seriously buying that gun. I have been wanting a full-size .22LR pistol to get my wife into shooting, but I haven't found anything I like. Looks like I just did.

Please let me know if you find out any info. I checked and it is not currently on the Doj list here in Cali, but perhaps it has not been released yet. It is quite a departure from the typical 22LRs that are available.

They have two versions- one with 12rd mags and one with 10rd mags. S&W has always seemed willing to make weapons that are CA compliant, so I suspect that you'll be seeing them on there soon.
I'm actually excited about this. There aren't really any full-size .22LR pistols. I'll know more later this week when my holster comes in.

It's supposed to be a joint venture between S&W and Walther. They revealed it at SHOT show this year.

Gunblast had a picture on it, but that's it. About 4/5ths the way down the page, along with some other notables at SHOT this year.

It's listed on the Bud's website, but out of stock. I can't link it from work.

OP - I have the Neos. It's fun, and ten rounds go really quickly. They have a carbine conversion out for it too.

It seems like they keep pushing the release date for the M&P22 back.

I tried to buy a Neos at a local store last night and it turns out that they dropped off the Cali Doj list because recert was not submitted. They are for LEO purchase only from dealers unless they get back on the list. Does anyone have a Neos they would like to sell?

You can get a non doj rostered firearm through the single shot exemption.

I don't think the u22 Neos would meet the requirements, and the cost wouldn't be worth it for that gun.

I have a Neos, but I'm a wee bit too far away. I love the gun, but I do NOT like how it's disassembled. The little "barrel nut" is a royal PITA to deal with. I may look into a S&W M&P .22 now and get rid of my Neos.
