Car parked, hit by UHaul...
Hey everyone, so the story is while i was at work this evening, i left my car parked LEGALLY on the street beside the shop. I was notified by a coworker that I had been hit, didn't believe him but anyways turns out a Uhaul truck sideswiped my car, denting and scraping my two driver side doors, rear fender and mirror.
I went to the police station to file a report but i was told both drivers need to be present, so will have to get that sorted out tomorrow morning. Anyone ever deal with a Uhaul hit? I got the Uhaul ins. number policy etc. and I have a witness so hopefully all will go smoothly.. I am wondering wether my ins company will go after uhaul or the driver, or maybe i deal directly with uhaul. I find out tomorrow once my ins company calls me back anyways. If anyone has ever dealt with a Uhaul hit please feel free to chime in!

Darn, the Uhaul didn't move as smoothly as the little furry animal.
Good luck anyway. |

It kind of depends on if the person driving the uhaul had the extra insurance or if their standard policy covers rental trucks (many don't) If the driver of the uhaul admitted fault and is cooperating then things should go smoothly, altho expect it to take a few months before your car is "whole" again.

This honestly could be easy and clean (I hope for you) or a serious mess. It depends on what the UHaul driver did when he(she) rented the vehicle. If he told them that he'd let it ride on his existing insurance then you're not dealing with UHaul anymore but the responsible parties insurance carrier, under their guidlines for insuring the insured in another vehicle. Many of the things covered by UHauls insurance go out the window, but I think more where he's concerned than yours. It will extend the litigation though, for sure.

Yeah, I was told that it was a moving company and he pays for the uhaul insurance. Me not even being in the car and being parked 100% legally, all fault rests on him. I also have a witness. So hopefully Uhaul pays out. I am expecting a call back before wednesday, and otherwise i'll have my insurance company go after his personal one if uhaul fails. Thanks for the input guys! Sad to see my car hurt like this, but coulda been much worse. I would have lost it (even more than I did) if he had hit the front of my car.

Call your insurance and also contact the nearest uhaul and tell them one of their trucks probably has black scrapes on it from hitting your car.
Try to find some security video as well.

It seems obvious but with anything, a confession is better than a witness.

Happened while parked at my evening job, friday at 7:30. Fresh Air Experience, it's a bike/ski shop located on Wellington street just past Holland ave. Damage quote was btwn 3300-3900 at various locations. Hard to see it in the pics but my front door has a monster dent in it, need a new one for sure. The rest should be repairable no problems. On the plus side, I needed to get my rear towhook cover painted, nows my chance...
