road trip
All,
Its my first road trip ever in a non-rental car. Going about 400 miles each way. Will do it in one shot without any breaks. I'll be doing an oil (engine, diff, trans) change - anything else I should be doing? What should I take with me? The car only has 25k miles but all city driven and is 10 years old. Should I take coolant pipes with me because thats the common issue? Would hate to end up having to get it serviced at a stealership while on the road. The coolant has been flushed recently and thermostat replaced for what its worth. Thanks |

You should be fine. Make sure to check your tire pressures now and ensure they are not leaking before you go. Check the oil level and make sure it stays steady as well.
Keep about two quarts of oil, gallon of coolant and an air compressor in the car. |

I would bring flat tire repair kit. I am more concern about the road conditions. It is somthing you can not control of.

This is all good advice. I recently took my E90 M3 on a 2,100 mile road trip from New York to Georgia to North Carolina and back over the course of a week. The first leg was 16 hours and 900 miles straight through. I monitored my tires pressures and oil level at each rest stop (about every 2 hours). While I didn't run into any problems, I did have to add a bit of oil just before the return trip. Keep an eye on everything and enjoy the ride!

Check your tire pressure and I'd also check the coolant level. I tend to keep a quart of oil, an air compressor, some coolant, and my emergency kit (jumper cables, flares, etc...) in the trunk. 400 miles straight through shouldn't be a problem. Have a nice trip.
