I can see why, I mean while technically you aren't doing anything blatantly illegal by buying it, it was reasonably clear it was a pirated copy so not a very formal post.

Mango; you read what JonJon wrote and didn't pick up WHY it was locked? I'm pretty sure (unless I'm thinking of some other thread) that he said something like - It has been confirmed by the owner of the software that this is indeed a pirated copy of HIS product. Per forum rules, anyone discussing how to obtain or share pirated software will be banned.

Re-read the thread. Must've been ninja-edited. There was nothing in that thread about intellectual property, copyrights,forum rules, etc. Otherwise, I wouldn't have made this thread.

The fact that he purchased and gave reference to where he purchased the pirated product is both illegal and a bannable offense. In fact taking a picture of it and publishing the photo online in this forum was just dumb. If a subpoena is issued the administrators of this forum have made it clear that they will hand over any evidence due to legal actions taken by the softwares author.

I don't think the software's author will be suing anyone based in the US. The program is capable of changing mileage (by design, not by accident) so even the licensed version is illegal over here. Suing someone over pirating that would be somewhat like suing someone for stealing your marijuana. Sure technically you may have a case, but you'd have to admit your own illegal activity
