AC problems

Been reading the board for my e46 330i ac problems and I still couldn't find out why the ac is blowing hot air on middle dash vents. When the windsheild button is selected, hot air comes out, but cool air comes through dash. Same goes with the bottom vents when selected, hot air comes out and cooler air comes through the dash.

Trouble shooting included

- Replacing the water valve, which was bad
- Draining out the ac oil and adding oil/refrigerant to 1.63 lbs exact.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I have the same problem with my 03 325ci . The center vents will blow hot and cold. I was told by the dealership its a common problem the with the electronic flapper thing insdie the dash i dont remember what its called but they wanted over 700.00 to fix it. They told me the whole dash has to be removed.

If the a/c blows hot and cold it may be that you just have to refill the system with r 134a . But make sure you don't over fill it though.. Not sure what electronic flapper you are talking about though

Do you know the part # or the actual name of this part? Can't seem to figure out what that is

Let me have a look for you...me and realoem are one!

Start the clock!

Flapper 'thingy' translated into BMW-speak is probably #10.

In my old e36, flaps would stick pretty often, and I'd just spin the dial while changing fan speed and 'knock' it loose.

Perhaps try something similar just in case it is just hanging up a bit. Or, you might somehow be able to open up that flapper manually and leave it open.

Search evaporator replacement if you chose to go in...was just a little battle on here about how long it takes. The guy who did it first time in 8 hours was told that was a great time...just fyi. Ouch!

Make sure your heater valve isn't open, as I have heard of that causing AC to be warmer...whether in all vents or just some, I don't recall...but use advanced search/title search...something like "AC warm" should get you to tons of threads to consider.
