Pull Door Handle Twice to Get Out? - 2001 325ci Convertible
My new convertible locks the doors when start driving - which I hate. When I stop and turn of the car, the car is still locked. I pull the inside door handle and it pops up the lock but does not open the door. I have to pull the handle again to get out. Is this standard procedure?

You can get the car coded to turn off the auto-lock if you want. Mine doesn't do that.
Since the door locks are small cylinders that go flush with the door trim (which I assume is for theft prevention), the door handle opens the lock with a slight amount of effort. If your electrics fail, you wouldn't be able to get out without that feature. Useful for when your car is underwater, on fire, or otherwise in a dire situation in which you need to get out real quick Last edited by Zell; 07-10-2011 at 09:07 PM. |

I used to love it when my passengers pulled the handle and then bashed their head on the door trying to get out. They would then sit there and say how sh!t the car was 'blah blah blah' only for me to reach over, pull the handle once and the door would magically open
Use it to your advantage :-p |

You can always hit the lock/unlock on the console before opening the door.
