Chrome Intakes (ebay) Intake?

Hey guys, I've been considering an intake, but don't think there is a point to spend hundreds since I have heard there is little if any HP gain. I really just want it for the sound. Found these on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-9...Q5fAccessories

Has anyone got one of these? No heatshield, but it does seem to go down towards the bumper slightly. I just don't want to decrease the performace of my car if this will take in hotter air that the stock intake.

Thanks for the input

that will give you a different sound, but being completely exposed to the engine bay without a heatshield definitely results in hotter air through the system.

Intakes make a sound? If you can hear your intake, you need a better exhaust

Don't waste your money on junk mods, you'll be way better off just saving your money for a bit and pick up something legit, ie. BMW Performance Air intake.
