The rifle began life eons ago as a DPMS AP4 carbine, and it still has the commercial-spec carbine extension tube. The stock is a CAA CBST buttstock and the optional CAASST1 stock saddle. It originally bought it when the rifle was equipped with an ACOG and in carbine configuration. I thought it would be a good option to keep for the SPR to keep it lighter and more maneuverable and it was a way to keep costs down, but I also contemplated going to a Magpul CTR stock with the LaRue RISR. Ultimately, I need a taller cheek riser and the CAA causes problems with the charging handle, and the carbine setups are just too light for what I want the rifle for. The rifle just isn't balanced like I want it to be.
At some point over the winter, I'll retrofit and get a rifle receiver extension tube setup and the PSR stock. I think that should give me what I want.

My mini ar ready for zombie rodents...can't wait to go put a few hundred rounds through her. Itll hold me over while building the real deal.

Here is my AR15 I just got, along with my 9mm. I also filled in the engravings with crayons. Used nail polish on the slide of the pistol. Definitely recommend using crayons instead... Shot 300 rounds today. Worked like a champ. Almost got the red dot dialed in.

I have volume one, and it was definately a good watch. I would really like to watch disk four from volume two.

Have any of you with an AR tried using a 22 conversion kit? I was thinking about it just for fun.

What do you guys think of Magpul MOE handguards? Handguards are $30 and the vertical foregrip is $20. Seems like a great deal vs. some of the rail system prices since I really only want the foregrip and possibly a light in the future and this would meet my needs.

Any input / feedback? I don't want to waste my money if it is junk.

I know a lot of people love them for KISS builds, and they are a few ounces lighter than comparible length aluminium rails. The bolt on rails will add a little weight though. I can't recall reading anything negative about them.

One of the guys for the County S.O. has a totally MOE rifle because his wife won't let him spend money. The handguards are actually very nice. I prefer freefloat, but the MOE handguards have a very nice feel to them. They are wide and flat along the bottom, and then angled upward and more narrow at the top. For a direct replacement handguard, I definitely have to give them props for utility and feel. I think they're ugly as sin, but it gets the job done. Magpul makes accessories for them, which really helps. If Magpul didn't, I'd say pass, but that's not the case so they're GTG in my book.

yeah, I really can't decide if I love them or hate the way they look. I was really surprised by how cheap they are, so that probably has a lot to do with it. Admittedly, something like a Daniel Defense quad rail is a lot more visually appealing, but not within my budget and I don't really need it except for a 'cool' factor. I wasn't too interested in a rail system due to price, but I can easily justify this for a rifle I only shoot 1-2x / year.

A rail is a nice investment, but it's a tool. If you don't use the tool, then there's no need to buy it. If I were you, I'd go with the MOE and see how you like it. Worst case scenario, you're out $30.

Just order the magpul RVG after reading a lot of great reviews. Hoping to shoot an AR with the magpul AFG; which may be my next grip. For the time being, I will use the RVG (why not, it's only like $23).

Also got some magpul XTM rail covers along with a battlecomp 2.0 compensator. My good friend said it's a must.

I have no idea why I dont play anymore. BO just got boring for me; unlike MW2. Also waiting for MW3 as well as BF3. Going to be on deployment when it comes out, but there will be internet

Does anyone have any opinions on Stag AR's? Are they decent as far as entry level AR's go?
