DME Tuning - TUNERPRO

I compared the euro2 to euro3 files, and I can see where the euro3 has deleted past cat 02 sensor monitoring. But if I compare the euro tunes to US tunes the data is too much different to the point that you can't see much similarities.

As for the 60kb file size, only thing it needs is rest of the bin file to be filled with FF values until it reaches 64kb size and should be flashable with galletto1260 tool.

TerraPhantm can you tell me what cable works so I can buy it on ebay?

Now while I didn't look over every single bit throughout the file, it does seem like the 60KB contains everything that the 64KB file contains. The 60KB file does seem to have padding added in "random" spots (usually 4 or 8 bytes of 0s).

If I could I'd flash one of the tunes to a car, read it back, and then compare it with the data files from the BMW DVDs. If I had an MS43 car I'd do just that... but I don't. If the files could be understood, then perhaps they modified and written back to the car using tools that are easy to acquire. (As I mentioned, the cables that work with this software can be had as low as $10)

I have no training (formal or informal) for this stuff, so there's very little I can add - all I'm trying to do is point the people "in the know" in a potentially helpful direction.

I can take a dump out of the euro 3 sw if it would help.

Interesting to Note that you discovered no similarities between an us tune and euro.

Terra might know If the k+dcan interfaces can be used to flash e46 DME.

However the interface I posted is the cheapest of them all.

Also,

It would be worth a shot to edit the .0da files with the modified tuner pro hex code an try to code it through winkfp.

It might work and may allow for custom tunning without the need of a bench flash.

What could we alter to test that it worked? Perhaps modify the vanos timing so that fully advances at a certian rpm. Or set the rev limiter to 5k rpm. Hmmm

I do wonder if the US-tune taken from the Ista/P DVDs would be easier to compare. I do think that dump would be helpful too - I am curious what difference (if any) there are between the two "formats" (binary dumped straight from the DME vs. the 0da data)

But I heard that this will make the OBD2 monitoring go into "system not ready" at Arizona state emissions testing?

I would be interested in something like removing cats and air pump and still pass emissions testing.

You are correct. Euro 3 keeps cat monitoring on and sap off. I passed emissions with that tune.

Euro2 deletes all emissions and you can set the idle mixture manually through dis.

Euro 3 = no SAP (for the M54 motors anyway. S54 still has SAP even w/ the Euro 3 tune)
Euro 2 = No cat monitors, no SAP, and probably no other emissions stuff. Basically the equivalent of our "OBDI"

Unlike aftermarket tunes, the Euro 3 and Euro2 tunes don't set the monitors to "not ready"; they set them to "not applicable" (much like the EGR monitor on stock E46s; it'll look like those components weren't fitted from the factory). Most states books say that a monitor that says "not applicable" doesn't cause failure, BUT the catalytic converters showing as n/a might raise a few red flags.

One issue with the Euro 2 tune for US purposes is that it disables the Key-on-Engine-off CEL, which is required in most (if not all) states to pass inspections. I would imagine someone who knows what they're doing can reenable that light though.

I could probably experiment with that, sense there is not much difference in data in bin files euro2 vs euro3 I could probably find out what byte of data turns on/off the CEL light.

I bought an extra MS43 ecu but it has a different hardware number on it so I don't know if it will work. I don't want to experiment with my stock ecu

Can you explain the proper procedure of installing different ECU on the 2002 330ci?

I have the newest carsoft software 6.15 and newest PAsoft. Both have the "swap ecu" feature but I have never used it.

I'm not familiar with carsoft nor pa soft. Swap ecu should do it. If not look for a ews/DME alignment option.

As long as it's an MS43 it should be okay. My own car's DME hardware number actually changed when I flashed the Euro tune onto it (obviously the sticker didn't change, but the references to the HW version in the software did)

My 330ci is automatic, how can I ID what software number is for what? Does it matter if its M/T or A/T?
