Hey guys, looking back on this job I realized I threw something away with the old fan maybe I shouldn't have. Anyone know what this thing does? Is this just the Aux fan controller? (Red circled) A little background...I did this swap about a month ago, fan works fine, no overheating, everything works perfect even without this thing. Thanks to Nervous for his pic.

I can't figure out how to put pics on here but here's the link.

Didnt your new fan come with that piece? You shouldnt have to swap out electronics on new parts like that especially if they are BMW. I just replaced my electric fan last month and the new one came to me just like the old one all I had to do was put in the 2 plastic rivets to hold the fan in place and plug and play

I got the fan from ebay (Behr fan) but it did not come with any controller. I'm thinking this box is just the aux fan controller for automatics, which now I don't need because I no longer have the aux fan.

Well I replaced my fuse, and the aux fan switch and still no luck with the fan, I just sent it back for a refund right now I'm only running the pusher fan and it seems to running fine no overheating issues. anyone know of any other things that might be wrong that I should look at?

Well, if your pusher fan works and the main fan doesn't then it is obviously the fan is at fault, since they use the same connector.

Well I contacted the seller (auto lamp from ebay) and they immediately put the blame on my car saying it was causing the problem. I was reading the forum and other people were having issues when putting in the new fan,i guess I just started believing that it was my car with problem and not the fan since it was new. I'll tri ordering another one and see how that one turns out. Thanks nervous

BTW, also don't forget kpeng (http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=744994), this is him who encouraged me (and probably Jake) to do the mod (and therefore the writeup and pics)

you are too humble and I appreciate you giving credit where credit is due but I don't like Kpeng (ken), his brother (Stan), and all of their Leistung motorwerks/Florida douche friends. Him leaving the forum was one of the happiest day of my life. One down and many more to go.

I'm going to do this mod as well. Not sure when, but this is a good mod and I do not like the truck fan sound when the ac is on.

Got a cheapo electric fan off ebay but seems to be fully intact. Will report back when I get some time off from school and get it on the e46
