one question with the drive shaft center bearing, are you talking about number 7 or number 8 here? because the bearing is number 7 but the pn you gave is number 8... should i just get both?

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...97&hg=26&fg=10

so far the parts you listed will cost me 200$ not to bad..
I think you only need 26122282495 which is number 7. Thats what I ordered

I am trying to catch up real quick - you are using the M3 trans and rear diff (etc)???

if so, then if you use the M3 driveshaft it comes with the center bearing

I didnt go back and read every post

Correct! I am using the complete drivetrain and suspension from M3 basicly everything from M3 minus the body, interior and axel back exhaust (I'm not cuting my spare well)

I asked people to tell me what M3 stuff I should replace while its easy to get at rather than reusing from my donor car. And have to replace it in a few years when its much harder to get to.

0-60 suggested I replace that bearing because its easy to get to now. But in the future I would have to drop the exhaust, heat sheids, and driveshaft. Ext.

This is just the info I want to kno. What to replace or upgrade now while everything is appart. And what is ok to be left alone (the stuff that's easy to replace when the car is assembled)

gotcha - i wasnt sure if you were trying to swap the driveshaft

yes, the bearing is def worth swapping now if your mileage is high or if you think there are issues

The milage on my donor car is 40k mi.
but If its something that will need replaced by 100k I would rather do it now and get it over with while its easy to do

I don't kno how to tell how worn it is, I sprayed it, the flywheel and pressure plate with a lil WD to stop the surface rust that was starting...people prolly would say that's a bad idea? I'm not to worried about it. I was thinking about replacing the bearing in the trans (don't kno the name) but its around the spline at the end where it would meet up with the pressure plate.... And would b simple to do now, it just slides off, I might have someone who knows what they r looking aat check it out. I also sprayed the valves, as they were getting a tiny bit of rust. Nothing compared to my gsxr motor, thoes valves were all rusty, I sprayed n scrubed them n it ended up fine, I'm hoping this will too

I have off today and im determined to get you guys some decent updates. still awaing my hoist. so for now im going to pull of the front suspension/steering and subframe.

I started on it last night, ended up stripping both brake line nuts (the ones on the metal lines) i wasnt sure what to do about that so i stoped. Then i found out they are like 10$ so today im just gunna cut the darn things off rather than trying to mess with them

By the end of today i plan on having the front suspension off and ready for resale. my rear subframe on two creepers (so i can move it around until someone buys it, whoz interested? i sell cheep)

I got the full suspension off today including the steering, disconnected more stuff from the motor. I'm not exzactly sure everything that needs to come off/be disconnected to easily get the motor out.

Pics coming later tonight

thanks alot! yea i was suprised how much i got done yesterday, by the end of the day the garage was twice as cluttered from all the pieces i had off. and it looked like a complete mess with tools everywhere.

Next thing ill be working on is making sure i have all the wires unpluged before i go to pull the motor and realize there is still something connected..ive been doing this for the past couple days here and there and it gets kinda frustrating trying to trace all the wires and then figure out how to disconnect them.

Change and fix things along the way of doing the swap, like those rusted clamps , rotted hoses ect this will help in the long run

Things are going pretty smooth and I should have the motor out by the end of the week. Someone buy it so its not sitting in my garage!
