Service Engine Light Question!!!

So heres the Downlow, me n my gf got in a fit while we were driving(04 330ci), i stopped to get gas and while i was in there she broke off my rear view mirror and my windshield wiper handle/knob.....im getting it replaced this weekend but 2 days later my service engine light came on, could any of those contribute to the engine light coming on?

Get the code read then post back with the results. I can't imagine what code those might set off - if any - but knowing the code is probably the best way to know. Since it is a SES light - trying to decide why is pretty irrelevant. The only relevant thing is the code...

Did you put your gas cap back on right? That's a pretty common reason to throw a code.

There is actually a light that comes on and says check gas cap.

Yes, it's worth a try.

If you have any ability to fix this car yourself, the money you will save vs. paying a mechanic can be spent to buy yourself a scan tool.

Cool! I've never done it in the BMW, but my friend had that issue with his Chevy when his gas cap went bad. Good to know though.
